TheNew Orleans Saintshave traded away Marshon Lattimore and a 5th-round pick to theWashington Commandersfor a 3rd, 4th, and 6th-round pick. Lattimore was by far the best trade asset that the Saints had on the roster, and with the season going the way it is, it was not surprising to see the star player traded away. When a team trades away a player of Lattimore’s caliber, their respective position room on the former roster tends to take a big hit. Think of when the Panthers traded away Brian Burns in the summer. Carolina’s edge rush group was a strength of the team for years, but when Burns was traded away, it became one of their weaknesses. Could the same thing happen with New Orleans? Potentially.
Right now, the Saints only have two starting-caliber cornerbacks on the roster, and one is a rookie. Alontae Taylor has been a standout amongst the Saints DBs since coming into the league. He is much better playing as an outside corner, and now that Lattimore is off the team, he should be moved to that spot.
